Energy, motion, inertia and momentum

Schools are invited to use our heritage railway as a stimulus to demonstrate the relevance of science in our everyday lives. Key areas are energy, motion, inertia and momentum. The investigation are based on a railway carriage, a train and the Railway Institute. It is an opportunity to experience first hand science outside the classroom.

Your day may include

  • Building a Hero's Engine
  • Construction of an Inertia tube
  • Construction of a simple anemometer
  • Construction of a directional pen indicator
  • Burning fuels and the environment
  • On site laboratories
  • Train Ride

The day begins at Sheringham Station at 10am and finishes at Holt Railway Institute at 2pm.

Free preliminary visit by a member of staff recommended.
